Between the economic challenges - clients upgrading internally - competitive nature of the market place our CPA firm needs a makeover. I feel that we have moved forward in many ways - we were never bleeding edge but pushed in many areas. Today I don't feel our firm is commanding a leadership role in what our market is.

If this was easy or obvious we would make the changes. But I think the issue is "systemic," that we are stuck in our old thinking, beliefs and norms.

Looking for people who are willing to share with me their experience in hiring some of the CPA consultants to help a firm move forward.

Yes we do want to move and continue!

Hi Joe...
I've been consulting with accounting firms since 1996 and my observation is that you are absolutely correct that creating real "change" within not just accounting organizations but ANY organization is very difficult.
Once many accountants become sufficiently busy to enjoy their own definition of financial success, they often become very settled with what they are doing. Intellectually they may be unsatisfied (I'd rather evolve my practice so I can eventually be doing more consulting, planning and advising and less preparation), but emotionally they don't want to do anything that threatens what they've achieved and so settle for the devil they know.
So, yes, change is a tough sell.
