How do you earn your CPE?

So, another reporting period is upon us. Did you earn all the CPE you needed timely or were you scrambling at the last minute?
As a self-employed CPA, whose children are finally old enough to not be underfoot but who aren't old enough to see themselves off to or home from school, earning CPE credits has to be managed and monitored more carefully than it did when I was working at a firm. Before kids I was able to easily attend 8-hour seminars and someone else was covering the bill. Now, however, between paying for them and scheduling them, earning my CPE credits require much more attention on my part. I am fortunate that there are some monthly meeting groups in my area where I can affordably earn 2 credits at a time on relevant topics and taught by experts.
Happily this year, I wasn't scrambling at reporting year end to get my credits in.
